4 Ways to Perk Up Your Outdoor Living Space For Spring

It’s safe to say that we’re in the thick of the wildflower season. The hills of Southern California are dotted with blooming yellow mustard flowers and spring is definitely in the air. Rain brings crisp mornings leaning into bright, sunny days. So yes, it’s about time to freshen up your backyard to enjoy the promise of long spring and summer days.

Here are some of our favorite ways to add a fresh feeling to your outdoor living space —

  1. Add Decorative Planters

It’s amazing how something as little as a new planter can refresh a space. Whether you’re feeling drawn to neutrals or printed planters, view spring as an opportunity to experiment. Perhaps you’re thinking about bringing new color into your space, but don’t want to fully commit—that’s the perfect time to introduce a planter.

  1. There’s no such thing as too many pillows

Fact: the more pillows, the merrier. Backyards are meant for lounging and enjoying your time. A proliferation of pillows does the trick. We’ve been loving textured and interesting patterns that add personality to a space.

  1. All the rugs!

Outdoor rugs tend to get a bad rap—but are our favorite trick for pulling a space together. Rugs can be as neutral or as unique as you’d like…and they’re so easy to swap out depending on your mood or as the season changes. Consider rugs the best way to quickly liven up a space and prepare it for spring!

  1. Let’s talk about mood lighting

It’s real and it makes all the difference. Our favorite way to elevate the mood in any space is to introduce a bit of unique lighting. Whether it’s candle lanterns with auto timers or cafe lights sprinkled across a space bring a little bit of warmth to your backyard.

Since you’re thinking about going on a shopping trip, our go-to’s for accessories and items like lanterns, pillow, furniture, umbrellas include—

  • Wayfair
  • Pottery Barn
  • West Elm
  • CB2
